Fun in the sun

It seems like it's been forever since I've posted! C and I traveled to AZ for a week with Mammie and Papa W. C was a great traveler, much relief to his mother! One funny thing happened during the travel there, C's legs are just long enough now to tap the seat in front of him on the airplane. I usually try to get bulkhead seating to avoid the problem, but this time not for the 4 hour flight to Phoenix. We boarded and the person in front of C was a man in his I'd say 60's. As soon as take off, he reclined his seat all the way back, giving C even better access with his feet. I tried my best to keep him from tapping ( and it was BARLEY tapping). You would not believe the looks this gentleman gave me! After one particularly offensive look, I leaned into his seat and said "Sir, I'm trying the best I can to keep him from tapping your seat". His reaction was to smirk something I couldn't understand and then gave me another look and turned back around! I am way too sensitive, so of course it bothered me for the rest of the trip. Does this guy not see that I am alone with a toddler on a four hour flight?? He should have been happy that C was "happily" tapping his seat occasionally while quietly watching his DVD and eating snacks. He could have been screaming and yelling for the duration! Anyway, at the end of the flight when we were waiting to deboard. They stood up in front of us and turned around (he and his wife) and then said "Oh goodness, he's only a baby. We thought he was a bigger kid and would have known better. Goodness, he did wonderful on the flight! We are off to see our own grandchild about his age" My reply was "That's wonderful, hopefully you have better patience for your own grandchild then you had for mine." I know I should have taken a higher road, but it fell out of my mouth before I could think.

Anyway, we had a LOVELY week with Mammie and Papa. They were prepared like Boy Scouts for a 21 month old to visit. They created a sandbox in the driveway and borrowed toys from every other fellow grandparent in the community. We made a trip to the zoo, played at the park, fed the ducks and drove the golf cart and four wheeler! C had a great time. It was so hard to leave and go back to reality.

I'm off to bed. I have to be up at 6am and downtown by 7am to fight for the last of a few slots available for a pre-school starting in the fall. Wish me luck!
