Yesterday when C woke up from his nap, I decided to take him to the park at the neighboring Air Force base. The park sits next to the air strip, so the kids go crazy when the big planes take off and land. The sawdust at the park is so dirty, C is usually covered in black dust when we are finished. I had to run to the PX after the park, so I decided to wash him down best I could with baby wipes when we got back to the car.
I spent forever at the PX because C was in one of those rare moods to sit quietly and let me shop, so I took advantage. I then rewarded him with junk food for dinner and stood in line to get Burger King for him. All the while, happily chatting up people, because I was just in a good mood.
When I got home, I got C situated in his chair for dinner and then walked down the hallway to go to the rest room. I glanced at the mirror as I passed and stopped in my tracks. I had a softball size black smudge across my forehead and down my nose. Obviously from the Park! I could not believe that I leisurely walked the PX for over an hour with this on my face!!!! So much of what happened instantly made sense like how funny the check out guy was at the PX. He acted like he was about ready to crack up, but at the time I just thought he like to smile a lot. Then the lady at Burger King kept looking at me long after I recieved my reciept and I had to double think whether I actually gave her the cash.
I ran down the hallway to C and pointed to my face. "You knew Mommy had this on her face didn't you??" C's reply was a wide grin and a resounding "Yes!!!!!" That turkey.
At least I know I'm not a vain person. Vain people tend to look at themselves in the mirror from time to time before entering a public building! This is why I need R home, to never let things like this happen to me! However, if he's anything like our son, I guess I'm on my own!

Hi Melissa-
Just wanted to say Hi. I was checking on the Duffys blog and found your link. Camron is such a big boy now! I see both you and Reed in his face. And is Reed at home with you now? Where is home, Ft. Lewis? Anyway, I hope all has been well for you and the family. Take care, and if time allows, please drop me a line at sgstinch@hotmail.com. I must walk the dog and shovel snow now. Best wishes - Sara Dittenber
